The CAE Learner

At the heart of its work Cambridge Academy Ethiopia seeks to develop the next generation of Ethiopians to have a ‘growth mindset’, developing in students an acceptance that they can always improve and a resilience to rise to the challenge of continuous improvement. Coupled with the ‘growth mindset’ concept, Cambridge Academy Ethiopia will provide an education that promotes ‘higher order thinking’. Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy provides a template for 21st century learners that recognizes that creativity is, by any measure, a higher order activity than, for example, the ability to remember and recall facts.

It is widely recognized that there must be a shift in learning styles if students are to achieve their potential and be able to function effectively in a modern, knowledge economy. Cambridge Academy Ethiopia will provide a context where young Ethiopian and expatriate students, from their first day in school, will be given the opportunity to develop their higher order thinking skills.
