Registration to the academic year 2021-21 is now open for children from 2 to 15 years old, so from Nursery to Year 10 (equivalent to international/US from Pre-KG to Grade 9).
Cambridge Academy Ethiopia operates a fair and transparent admissions process, with applicants to the school being accepted without selection based upon academic achievement or potential, ethnicity, religion, gender, or any other possible form of discrimination. Cambridge Academy Ethiopia adheres to age-appropriate admissions. All required documentation must be received before the child is accepted.
Once the school is at full capacity, all further prospective students will be placed on a waiting list. Cambridge Academy Ethiopia operates on a first-come, first-served basis and when there is an opening, the next child on the waiting list will be invited to join. A student will be given priority for an available seat if a sibling of that child is accepted to the school and is attending.
Education at Cambridge Academy Ethiopia provides equality of opportunity and balanced outcomes for all students. Special needs students will be properly integrated within the education system with the benefit of support programmes and infrastructure that guarantees fair access. Cambridge Academy Ethiopia will admit students with a range of mild to moderate special educational needs who, with sufficient targeted support, will have access to the full curriculum within our inclusive learning environment.
School Readiness Assessment
At the admissions stage, children are assessed on their readiness to attend Cambridge Academy Ethiopia. This is an internal assessment conducted by a member of teaching and learning team. We expect that a sizeable amount of children will speak English as an additional language (EAL) and the school readiness assessment will identify a child’s English language proficiency, in addition to their disposition to interact with adults, other children and the environment around them. This assessment will inform how the school can best support a student following their admission. This is not an admissions test.
Key Stage 5 Admission
Admission to Year 12 at Cambridge Academy Ethiopia is a separate and distinct point of entry. Entry to the Sixth Form will be in accordance with admissions criteria that will be inclusive and promote the continuation of the learning journey. Students will be expected to have achieved appropriate iGCSE grades in the subject in order to take the subject in Key Stage 5. Students who join Key Stage 5 are expected to have completed Year 11 in Cambridge Academy Ethiopia or another National Curriculum for England school.
Students will be placed in a school year according to their age and year progression.
