ADMISSION OF SEN STUDENTS

Cambridge Academy School will provide equality of opportunity and balanced outcomes for all students. Special educational needs students will be properly integrated within the education system with the benefit of support programs and infrastructure that guarantees fair access.

Cambridge  Academy School will admit students with a wide range of mild to moderate special educational needs who, with sufficient targeted support, will have access to the full curriculum within our inclusive learning environment.

School Readiness Assessment

At the admissions stage, children will be assessed on their readiness to attend Cambridge  Academy School. This will be an internal assessment that will be conducted by a member of teaching and learning team.

We expect that a sizeable amount of children will speak English as an additional language (EAL) and the school readiness assessment will identify a child’s English language proficiency, in addition to their disposition to interact with adults, other children and the environment around them. This assessment will inform how the school can best support a student following their admission. This is not an admissions test.

Key Stage 5 Admission (16-18 years)

Admission to Year 12 at  Cambridge  Academy School is a separate and distinct point of entry called sixth form. Entry to the Sixth Form will be in accordance with admissions criteria that will be inclusive and promote the continuation of the learning journey. Students will be expected to have achieved a pass grade or better in the subject in order to take the subject in Key Stage 5. Students who join Key Stage 5 are expected to have completed Year 11 in a National Curriculum for England school.

All activity in relation to admissions is in line with international regulatory expectations.
